How to create all seasons outdoor area using louvre roof systems

We all love a good outdoor area which we can use for variety reasons including bbq’s, spending time with loved ones, entertaining. And Covid-19 has certainly made us realise the importance of having access to outdoor, backyard space. Well, what can make a good outdoor area great? The ability to use it in all seasons goes a long way especially in Australia where we know how harsh the sun can be and also weather can be quite different depending upon where you live.

Whilst there are variety of roof options available to suit different budgets, styles and preferences, louvre roof systems (open roof systems) are relatively new and have lots going for them.

So what are Louvre roof systems? In brief, Louvre roof systems are typically aluminium  shading roof structures that allow you to open and close your roof at the  touch of a button. Ability to open and close the roof using a remote, allows you to set the right angle for louvres depending upon the weather and preference. E.g. when it’s hot you can set them at angle to keep the harsh sun out while letting hot air escape, when it’s raining you can close them completely and with integrated gutter system water can be drained with ease. There is also option to add integrated motorised blinds to keep the wind out on those windy days.

Other aspects to consider while designing:

–Lighting: ensure the area is well lit allowing you to use at night. If there is no existing light points you can consider adding LED strips

–Heating: ability to heat the area allows you to use the area  during winters. Variety of options include electric heaters, fire pits, gas patio heaters.

–Furniture: opt for right furniture pieces which are low maintenance yet in line with your design goals
